Fly a silver and cyan jet across ocean islands in a short arcade campaign: intercept four fighters, destroy three ship defense nodes, then duel the ace RAVEN. Automatic thrust keeps you moving while you steer, aim, lock missiles and evade incoming fire.

How do you play ACE COMBAT 8?
Intercept the four fighters
Start ACE COMBAT 8 with Sky Intercept. Your HUD begins with 100 hull, six missiles and three flares. Select a fighter, turn toward its marker and close the distance. Each fighter has six hit points, so one four-damage missile alone will not destroy it.
Combine locks and cannon fire in ACE COMBAT 8
Keep your selected target inside the forward lock area until the ring fills, then launch. In ACE COMBAT 8, firing resets the lock, so you must acquire it again for another missile. Use the cannon at closer range to finish damaged targets and conserve ammunition.
Clear the three defense nodes
Choose Continue after the intercept to enter Fleet Strike. ACE COMBAT 8 restores hull, missiles and flares for the new mission. Destroy the three marked ship defense nodes; each has four hit points. The extra frigate shapes are scenery, not additional objectives. Keep enough altitude to avoid striking the sea or ships.
Win the RAVEN duel
The final ACE COMBAT 8 mission pits you against RAVEN, an ace with 18 hit points. Keep turning to reacquire the target, use flares when threatened and mix missile hits with cannon fire. Clearing this final objective completes the campaign; the earlier mission-clear screens lead to another stage.

How can you improve at ACE COMBAT 8?
Read the ACE COMBAT 8 lock ring
ACE COMBAT 8 locks only the selected target inside a 25-degree forward cone and a 2,500-meter range. A visible marker does not guarantee a firing solution. Follow the target smoothly while the meter fills. Leaving that area drains progress; pressing Missile without a full lock does not spend ammunition.
Save flares for a real threat
You get three flare charges per ACE COMBAT 8 mission. A flare deflects missiles already in flight and gives a brief evasion window, but the next charge needs eight seconds to become available. Keep maneuvering after deployment instead of treating the flare as lasting protection.
Protect altitude before chasing a hit
ACE COMBAT 8 warns you to pull up below 90 meters and fails the mission below 30 meters. During Fleet Strike, a low pass can also collide with a ship or defense node. Climb out, turn and make another approach if the target pulls your aim toward the water.

In ACE COMBAT 8, Retry Mission restarts only the current stage and restores its entry checkpoint. Earlier completed stages remain completed. Use Restart Campaign when you want to reset the whole run, including accumulated score and progress.
